Student Activist, Leila Hosseinzadeh, Sentenced to 5 Years Prison
Published by Ali on February 24, 2021International Liberty Association: The Branch 28 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court issued a 5-year sentence for student activist Leila Hosseinzadeh and banned her for two years from activity on social media.
According to the reports, Student activist Leila Hosseinzadeh has received this sentence for participating in the birthday celebration students of Sharif University held for the imprisoned Dervish Mohammad Sharifi Moghaddam.
It should be mentioned that, Ms. Hosseinzadeh is charged with “assembly and collusion against national security.”
Student activist Hosseinzadeh was initially arrested during the protests in December 2017-January 2018. She was released on bail after 16 days.
She was arrested again by intelligence agents on 28 July 2019, and transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison on August 5, 2019, to serve her 30 months’ prison sentence.
ILA: Tehran Province’s Appeals Court upheld the 2.5-year sentence of Leila Hosseinzadeh on 24 June 2019. She was also deprived of leaving the country for two years after serving her sentence.
Leila Hosseinzadeh has masters of anthropology from Tehran University.
