Marking the 30th year after the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political and Human Rights prisoners across Iran, human rights activists in various cities launched a campaign of putting posters and laying flowers on the victims’ graves.

The 1988 executions of Iranian political and human rights activists prisoners was a series of state-sponsored execution of prisoners across Iran, starting on 19 July 1988 and lasting for approximately five months.

Great care was taken by the regime to keep the killings undercover, and Iran regime denies their having taken place.

The publication of an audio recording of Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, for the first time from nearly three decades ago has reopened a disaster from the darkest period in Iran.
