Latest reports from Iran indicate the death toll from Iran protests has reached to 450.
Following the protests over gasoline price hike, the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called protesters “hooligans” in a televised speech. During the next few days, Iran has mobilized all its forces against protesters, opening fire on gatherings. At least 4,000 protesters have been injured, some with life threatening wounds. Reports indicate that at least 10,000 protesters have been detained all over Iran.

Judiciary officials in various provinces such as Tehran, Khuzestan, and Fars have spoken of holding special courts for those arrested.

Speaking at Tehran’s Friday prayer on November 22, Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts’ Presidium, described those arrested as saboteurs who have waged war on God. He demanded that the Judiciary give them maximum punishment. Previously, Khamenei’s mouthpiece, the daily Kayhan, wrote on November 18, “Judicial bodies say execution by hanging for the leaders of the recent riot are certain.”
