Published by Ali on January 13, 2020International Liberty Association: Students and other protesters in Tehran and other cities went to streets last night and today to express their outrage to Ali Khamenei after the Iran officials admitted that they shot down a Ukrainian commercial airliner, killing all 176 aboard.
Riot police fired teargas and used water cannons against thousands of protesters in the capital on Saturday, where many chanted “Death to the dictator”, and “Commander in Chief, resign, resign” directing their anger at the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader.
Many of those killed on the plane were students or graduates of Iran’s most prestigious universities including Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology.
Protesters were also angry that the officals withheld information about the shoot down for three days, blaming the incident on “technical issues”.
These lies were echoed by the goverment state-run TV.
Protesters chanted, “Down with the liar” and “Our state-run TV is our disgrace” during heated protests last night and this morning in Iran.
Angry students at Amir Kabir University of Technology and Sharif University of Technology in Tehran chanted “Khamenei is a murderer and his rule is not valid”. Security forces shot tear gas into Amir Kabir University.
ILA: Protesters also gathered in Somayyeh Street and Hafez Street near Amir Kabir University and chanted, “We don’t want the Islamic Republic”.
Videos from Iran also showed nightly protests in the north-eastern city of Mashhad, central city of Isfahan, and northern city of Rasht.
