International Liberty Association – According to reports from Iran, Manouchehr Bakhtiari, the father of Pouya Bakhtiari, 27 who was killed in November 2019 mass protests in Iran, was convicted of litigation and pursuing the case of his son’s death to 3.5 years in prison and a two-year banned to leave the country. In a phone call, he considered this verdict unjust. He added during ILA: the investigation of his case, he did not have a solicitor and was not informed of the court hearing date. Manouchehr Bakhtiari was arrested by security forces at his private home in Tehran on April the 29th, 2021 and transferred to unknown location. Pouya was shot in the head and was killed in protest of the sudden increase in fuel price in Mehrshahr, Karaj. He was 27 at the time of his death. while Reuters reported that the death toll of the November protests was 1,500. Iran’s Interior Minister, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, put the number between 200 and 225. Hundreds of people have also been arrested during the protests, some of whom have been sentenced to in prison and death. The Islamic Republic of Iran has not yet provided exact figures on the number of detainees.
