Atena Daemi And Golrokh Iraee Waiting For New Verdict

Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee were tried at the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, on Tuesday, 18 June, this year. These two civil rights activists appeared before the court accompanied by their lawyers. The court will issue its ruling on their case within 10 days.

The new case against Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee includes charges of insulting supreme leaders, Khomeini and Khamenei, and causing disruption the prison’s order by resisting physical inspection and singing anthems in protest to the executions of three Kurdish political prisoners.
Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee have also been accused of propaganda against the state by sending open letters out of prison.

Atena Daemi was arrested on 21 October, 2014 and subsequently sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for her civil activities. She started serving her sentence in December 2016 in Evin Prison.

Golrokh Iraee served her sentence at Evin prison on 24 October, 2016 and then was released on April 8, 2019, at the end of her sentence.

They are still waiting for the court verdict.
