The castigation of long imprisonments for the worker activists

Published by on October 25, 2016

jafar-azimzadehThe Independent Iranian workers Union condemned the imposing sentence of long imprisonment against the labour activists. This union stated that these sentences arouse the public’s fury and acrimony against the situation.
The Independent Iranian workers Union said that long-term prison sentences for Jafar Azimzadeh and Shapour Ehsanirad are passed while the indigence and the misery of workers, teachers, and other people increase day by day. On the other hand, the government agencies, military and educational organizations are involved in the frauds of billion dollars and corruption. It is worth noting that the ravages such as 11 million outskirt inhabitants, millions of unemployed, prostitutions, ten thousands of child labours in the streets, alcoholism, drug misuse and dozens of other social problems are spread across the country and they have put an 80 million people of the society to the brink of collapse.
As it turned out, the people such as Jafar Azimzadeh, Shapour Ehsanirad, Mahmoud Salehi, Davoud Razavi, Niknejad, Bohluli, Ali Nejati, Ebrahim Madadi, Reza Shahabi, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, and dozens of other well-known and unknown union activists are not a threat to the national security but an intimidation to thieves and looters. They are the messengers of security and prosperity for the workers and teachers as well as the toilers of Iran.
The files of Jafar Azimzadeh and Shapour Ehsanirad are exposed to the public opinion and to the eyes of workers across the country and the world. They are the trusted, passionate, and uncompromising representatives of us and the Union. They cry for justice and for the abolished rights of million workers who are dealing with indigence and misery across the country.
The sentences, as well as the repressive measures, have seethed millions of teachers, workers and the toilers with rage. Undoubtedly, the current critical situation will arouse the social movements and turbulences in the future.

Abolish death penalty in Iran

Please Sign our Petition

Dear Secretary General of United Nations,

The number of executions is rising in Iran, journalists are being detained for doing their job and activists face cruel and degrading punishments, long prison terms and even execution. According to the most recent reports by Amnesty International and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, “Iran’s judiciary continues to sentence child offenders to death, and carry out their execution by hanging”. Also, on August 9th, 2016 the son of late Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, Khomeini’s designated successor in 1988, published a shocking audio tape of his father’s meeting with the “Death Commission” which summarily and extra-judicially executed tens of thousands of political prisoners held in jails across Iran. The massacre was carried out on the basis of a fatwa by the regime’s then-Supreme Leader Khomeini.

We, the undersigned, hereby urge you to take up this issue and raise it in the General Assembly in order to;

1. Put pressure on Iran to immediately halt the executions and abolish death penalty in Iran.
2. Call on all Western governments to make any improvement in economic relations with Iran contingent on its human rights record.
3. Demand in its resolution on human rights violations in Iran, to bring the perpetrators of 1988 massacre (one of the worst atrocities the post-war world has ever seen – Geoffrey Robertson-QC) to justice before an international tribunal.

Executions must stop.
