Wednesday 4 March the clerical regime hanged six Sunni political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj. The killins took place in defiance of international call for halting these executions. According to a last plea by Amnesty International the 6 Sunni Kurds “were sentenced to death by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran after being convicted of the vaguely worded offence of ‘enmity against God’ (moharebeh)”.
Hamed Ahmadi, Jahangir Dehghani, Jamshid Dehghani, Kamal Molaee, Hadi Hosseini and Sediq Mohammadi were executed without due process of law a day after Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General highlighted Iran’s abysmal rights abuses in a report published by his office on Tuesday in which he called Iran’s rate of executions ‘deeply troubling’.
