Iran regime demolishes people’s homes in impoverished village

Published by on August 8, 2016

kambmorad6The Iranian regime this week demolished the homes of numerous residents of an impoverished village situated on Iran’s south-eastern shores in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 27, in Komb-e Moradabad Village in the Central District of Chabahar County. The repressive state security forces from the police station (Division 12) in Golshahr, Chabahar, moved in with bulldozers and destroyed the residents’ houses, leaving them homeless.
The mullahs’ regime claims that these houses were built illegally. Eye-witnesses said that the police forces started destroying the houses without a warrant and with total disregard as the deprived residents were begging and pleading with them to stop.
The residents of Komb-e Moradabad Village are mostly Iranian Baluchis who previously lived in the suburbs of the port city of Chabahar and who were forced to migrate to Komb-e Moradabad over the past 20 years because of drought and unemployment.
In January, graphic evidence emerged of another village in Sistan and Baluchistan bulldozed to the ground by Iran’s fundamentalist regime.
On December 27, 2015, the regime’s state security forces arrived at the village of Shahidan-e Danesh-Payeh in 50 police vehicles and 10 loaders, according to eye-witnesses, and began to demolish the villagers’ homes.
Shahidan-e Danesh-Payeh is about two kilometres from the impoverished province’s largest city and provincial capital Zahedan. The small village, officially listed in the municipality records with the village code 711891, had a municipality sign, and its electricity and water pipes were connected to the larger municipalities’ networks.
The suppressive security forces claimed that the homes had been built illegally on the land.

Abolish death penalty

Dear Secretary General of United Nations,

The number of executions is rising in Iran, journalists are being detained for doing their job and activists face cruel and degrading punishments, long prison terms and even execution. According to the most recent reports by Amnesty International and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, “Iran’s judiciary continues to sentence child offenders to death, and carry out their execution by hanging”. Also, on August 9th, 2016 the son of late Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, Khomeini’s designated successor in 1988, published a shocking audio tape of his father’s meeting with the “Death Commission” which summarily and extra-judicially executed tens of thousands of political prisoners held in jails across Iran. The massacre was carried out on the basis of a fatwa by the regime’s then-Supreme Leader Khomeini.

We, the undersigned, hereby urge you to take up this issue and raise it in the General Assembly in order to;

1. Put pressure on Iran to immediately halt the executions and abolish death penalty in Iran.
2. Call on all Western governments to make any improvement in economic relations with Iran contingent on its human rights record.
3. Demand in its resolution on human rights violations in Iran, to bring the perpetrators of 1988 massacre (one of the worst atrocities the post-war world has ever seen – Geoffrey Robertson-QC) to justice before an international tribunal.

Executions must stop.
