Iran regime agents threaten Camp Liberty residents after meeting Iraqi minister

Published by on June 17, 2015

campliberty-mapA group of agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and the terrorist Quds Force, disguised as families of Camp Liberty residents, were taken to Camp Liberty on Wednesday, 17 June 2015, by Iraqi officers from the committee tasked to suppress camp residents.

The agents standing at the Police Station in the camp chanted slogans against camp residents and among other things said, “As we destroyed Ashraf, we will destroy this camp, too.”

Iranian regime’s media and Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry website announced that on June 14, Mehdi Bayati, Iraq’s Minister of Human Rights, met with these agents of Iran’s terrorist Quds Force who have been transferred to Iraq under the pretext of ‘Camp Liberty residents’ families’. Bayati is a member of the Badr terrorist group and is under the command of Iranian regime’s QF. Bayati has levelled baseless accusations against Camp Liberty residents on the website of Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry to pave the way for their murder by agents of Iran’s Quds Force as it had happened in Camp Ashraf in 2009, 2011 and 2013.

This is not the first time that Bayati has demonstrated his enmity with the residents of Camp Liberty by repeating false allegations and paves the way for their massacre. His Ministry website reported on 24 November 2014 that Camp Liberty residents “do not have refugee status and their stay in Iraq is an illegal matter”.  On 16 November 2014 he stated expulsion of Camp Liberty residents from Iraq “should to be hastened.”

The hirelings that met with Bayati on June 14 have been transferred to Iraq by Iran’s Ministry Of Information and Security (MOIS) in collaboration with the regime’s embassy in Baghdad. On June 9 and 10, these hirelings were transferred to Camp Liberty by elements of the Governmental Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf and were stationed in a place near Liberty called Beit Baghdadi (House of Baghdadi – a reference to ISIS leader).

The official and overt intervention of Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry and the use of governmental facilities to serve these hirelings is yet another dangerous step against Camp Liberty residents. The Iranian regime has concurrently resorted to lies and distorted propaganda in its media to prepare the ground for suppressing the residents.

Based on repeated and written commitments of the US government and the United Nations regarding the wellbeing and security of Liberty residents, they must compel the Government of Iraq to stop inimical measures by Iraq’s Human Rights Ministry against residents of Camp Liberty and prevent the Iranian regime to employ the facilities of the Iraqi government for psychological torture of the camp residents and to prepare the grounds for another slaughter of refugees who are protected persons under International Law.

Abolish death penalty in Iran

Please Sign our Petition

Dear Secretary General of United Nations,

The number of executions is rising in Iran, journalists are being detained for doing their job and activists face cruel and degrading punishments, long prison terms and even execution. According to the most recent reports by Amnesty International and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, “Iran’s judiciary continues to sentence child offenders to death, and carry out their execution by hanging”. Also, on August 9th, 2016 the son of late Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, Khomeini’s designated successor in 1988, published a shocking audio tape of his father’s meeting with the “Death Commission” which summarily and extra-judicially executed tens of thousands of political prisoners held in jails across Iran. The massacre was carried out on the basis of a fatwa by the regime’s then-Supreme Leader Khomeini.

We, the undersigned, hereby urge you to take up this issue and raise it in the General Assembly in order to;

1. Put pressure on Iran to immediately halt the executions and abolish death penalty in Iran.
2. Call on all Western governments to make any improvement in economic relations with Iran contingent on its human rights record.
3. Demand in its resolution on human rights violations in Iran, to bring the perpetrators of 1988 massacre (one of the worst atrocities the post-war world has ever seen – Geoffrey Robertson-QC) to justice before an international tribunal.

Executions must stop.
